New favourite bra/binder

Size Purchased: S

I have the size M and the size S. On first try the M felt like the best fit over all. The clasps close easily and my breasts are secure and snug and do not spill out the top. The bra is so comfortable I can sleep in it even though I have sensory sensitivity with tight clothing this bra doesn’t have an overly tight band and the adjustable straps make adjusting throughout hormonal fluctuations and just needing more slack throughout the day so easy. I have been wearing these bras almost daily switching between the small and medium depending which one I want and for what activity as the small has much better compression quality for closer to a chest binding effect. Even though the bras are different sizes I don’t notice too much of a difference in comfort. The size small bottom clasp pops open sometimes when I’m sitting down. The size M straps are way too long now and the small amount of velcro on the strap doesn’t reach to be able to adjust the medium to perfect size at chest and arm pits. I am 5’10, muscular and 145lbs. I have some breast tissue with more loose skin so the smaller size can fit as my chest can easily be squished in and still be comfortable. The front clasps make wearing a more compressing smaller size easier as I do not need the bras to fit over my shoulders to get them on and off. I agree with other reviews that the fabric makes these bras so worth it, they are so soft and comfortable. I wear them for fitness and they are okay for running in.

Didn't work for me :( Mastectomy with flat closure. Bought M and L and they both didn't fit.

I was so excited about this bra. I had a mastectomy with flat closure and I heard great things from other "flatties" about the gentle compression, drain holding tabs, and easy hooks. I'll still give it 4 stars because I love what the company is doing; I think the fabric is great and the design obviously works for lots of people, but for me it was a total fail. The medium was way too tight. It hurt to try to do it up - it was very very tight on my "underbust" and quite snug on my actual surgery area. I tried wearing it with only the middle two hooks done up but it was still too tight. I wore it for a few hours only. It pressed on my drain exit areas too much (but the drain holding tabs worked great) and it was too hard to breathe. I also found the closure difficult to do up and since the hooks are quite stiff, it pressed on my sternum and the ends of my scars are very painful there. Then I ordered the large and thankfully the team shipped it to me super fast so I could use it in the first week of my recovery. It was still too tight on my "underbust" area, but then too loose on my surgery area. Also, the adjustable straps didn't go short enough! It would be easy to add extra velcro to the straps to ensure the straps work for more people. For a reduction I bet this bra would be amazing, but for me with a flat closure it just didn't work. I tried to wear the large for a couple of days but it just didn't work either. I'll have to try to sell these on poshmark. Bummer.

Great bra for recovery from breast reduction

I have been wearing this bra and the "Ultra Soft Front Closure Bra" by Knix while recovering from a breast reduction and I love them both. The Understance bra has more compression, and I wasn't able to wear it immediately post-surgery due to swelling that made it uncomfortable. The Knix bra is far softer and provides a feeling of protection without compression and is more comfortable to sleep in. I find they work well together, as I can wear the Knix one when I have more swelling or for sleeping, and I can wear the Understance bra for daytime hours to help with compression and to provide more support. I bought them both in XL (I wear a 36 or 38 band, DDD/E before surgery, maybe C now?). Thanks to a reviewer here I seam-ripped out the velcro tabs on the Understance bra which gave the band more stretch. I am impressed with the fabric as there has been no fraying or damage caused by pulling out all those stitches. Thank you to Understance for the thought that went into this product!
